Combating discrimination on all grounds in the Serbian education system

The “Combating discrimination on all grounds in the Serbian education system” is implemented by the Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights and the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights under the sponsorship of the European Union (EU). It is comprised of three main components:Education and training (raising target groups’ awareness regarding the project’s goals)

  1. Representation (research and analysis of the situation, support to the preparation of secondary legislation on this subject) and
  2. Taking legal action (legal representation and aid to victims of discrimination, in accordance with the Anti-Discrimination Act and the Law on the Fundamentals of the Education System). Through these three components the project will implement the following project activities:
  • Research and analysis of the current situation
  • Preparation of relevant manuals – for educational inspectors, educational advisors and  school administrators, as well as for secondary school students on the subject of combating discrimination in the education system
  • Training – for inspectors and advisors, workshops for students and informative sessions for parents and school administrators
  • Representation before courts and other institutions in cases concerning discrimination
  • Analysis and comments on a bylaw on preventing discrimination
  • Final conference
