{"id":10324,"date":"2026-04-29T13:26:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T12:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/?p=10324"},"modified":"2026-04-29T15:11:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T14:11:24","slug":"eu4fast-final-conference-held-in-belgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/en\/eu4fast-final-conference-held-in-belgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Final Conference Held in Belgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Belgrade Centre for Human Rights held the final conference in Belgrade on 21 April 2026 within the project <strong>\u201cSpecialised Support to (Potential) Victims of Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking and Legal Pathways for Vulnerable Groups in Serbia\u201d<\/strong>, implemented as part of the regional project <strong>\u201cEU Support to Strengthening the Fight Against Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking in the Western Balkans\u201d \u2013 EU4FAST<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10330 media-10330\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/10-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference brought together representatives of institutions, the diplomatic corps, international organisations and civil society organisations from Serbia and the region, with the aim of exchanging experiences and improving responses to challenges in the field of migration and asylum, with a focus on human trafficking, migrant smuggling and labour exploitation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10331 media-10331\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3-2-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Serbia lies on one of the key migration routes, which brings numerous challenges, ranging from access to rights and availability of support to the functioning of the protection system in practice. For this reason, regional cooperation, exchange of experiences, and the timely provision of information and support to people on the move are of particular importance.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10327 media-10327\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/24-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the introductory part of the conference, participants were addressed by <strong>Elvira Angulo Rodriguez<\/strong>, on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, <strong>Martin Hiebsch<\/strong>, GIZ BA Component Leader within the EU4FAST project, and <strong>Sonja To\u0161kovi\u0107<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights. Their remarks focused on the importance of regional cooperation, strengthening protection mechanisms, and the need for accessible, timely and quality support for people on the move and victims of human trafficking.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10325 media-10325\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/37-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the beginning of the programme, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Informator-za-zrtve-trgovine-ljudima_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Information Leaflet for Victims and Presumed Victims of Human Trafficking<\/strong> <\/a>was presented. The leaflet was prepared by the <strong>Centre for the Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings<\/strong> with the support of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights. It was presented by <strong>Sanja Savi\u0107<\/strong> and<strong> Marija Markovi\u0107<\/strong> on behalf of the Centre. The leaflet forms part of project activities aimed at strengthening information provision, early identification and access to protection for persons at risk. It is available in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Informator-za-zrtve-trgovine-ljudima.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serbian<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Informator-za-zrtve-trgovine-ljudima_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English<\/a>, so that important information on the risks of human trafficking, victims\u2019 rights and available protection mechanisms can be accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including people on the move and foreign nationals residing in Serbia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10329 media-10329\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/18-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference continued with the presentation of the policy paper <strong>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Policy-Paper-2025_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Key Lessons Learned and Successful Practices from the Implementation of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights\u2019 Project<\/a>\u201d<\/strong>, presented by <strong>Petar Vidosavljevi\u0107<\/strong>, Legal Adviser and Rainbow Migration Network Coordinator, and <strong>Andrijana Miljkovi\u0107<\/strong>, Service Provision Adviser at the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights. This part of the programme focused on experiences gained through field work, with particular attention to the challenges in providing legal and other forms of support to vulnerable groups, as well as recommendations for improving the protection system.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10328 media-10328\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/19-18-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The final panel presented the key conclusions and recommendations from regional meetings of civil society organisations from the Balkans providing legal assistance in the field. The panel featured <strong>Dora Pali\u0107<\/strong> from the <strong>Croatian Law Centre<\/strong>, <strong>Teodora Kjoseva<\/strong> from the <strong>Macedonian Young Lawyers Association \u2013 MYLA<\/strong>, and <strong>Emir Prcanovi\u0107<\/strong> from <strong>Va\u0161a prava Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/strong>. The panel was moderated by <strong>Jelena Ili\u0107<\/strong>, Asylum and Migration Programme Coordinator at the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights. The discussion confirmed the importance of regional exchange of experiences and the need for stronger coordination among organisations providing legal and other forms of support to people on the move and refugees in the field.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-10332 media-10332\" class=\"align-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/30-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The EU4FAST project \u2013 <strong>\u201cEU Support to Strengthening the Fight Against Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking in the Western Balkans\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 is implemented by a consortium of partners comprising: <strong>Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit \u2013 GIZ<\/strong>, the <strong>German Federal Police \u2013 Bundespolizei<\/strong>, the <strong>Center for International Legal Cooperation \u2013 CILC<\/strong>, <strong>CIVIPOL<\/strong>, the technical cooperation operator of the French Ministry of the Interior, as well as the <strong>Ministries of Interior of Austria, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia<\/strong>.
