According to Friday\u2019s newspaper reports, Marko Markovi\u0107, Vladimir Krstin, Dejan Luk\u0161a, \u017dika aka Ubica (\u2018Killer\u2019), and lawyer Zoran Ko\u0161\u010dal inflicted serious bodily injuries on Nikoli\u0107, because he was in a relationship with Ko\u0161\u010dal\u2019s daughter. There are also indications that the police detective Zoran Despeni\u0107 knew of the attackers\u2019 intentions as, before they took Nikoli\u0107, the detective told him they only wanted to talk to him. However the police officer did nothing to prevent the attack on Nikoli\u0107. This attack on Cucija Nikoli\u0107 confirms the prevalence of hatred and discrimination towards the Roma people in FRY. What is particularly worrying in this case is that the attack was organised by a lawyer from Kovin, whose duty it is to defend the law, not break it.<\/p>\n<p>The Belgrade Center for Human Rights calls on the Bar Associatons in Serbia and Vojvodina to take the necessary measures against their member Zoran Ko\u0161\u010dal.
