{"id":6000,"date":"2023-04-01T15:24:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T14:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/?p=6000"},"modified":"2023-04-24T15:52:35","modified_gmt":"2023-04-24T14:52:35","slug":"bchrs-annual-report-no-progress-on-human-rights-in-serbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/en\/bchrs-annual-report-no-progress-on-human-rights-in-serbia\/","title":{"rendered":"BCHR&#8217;s Annual Report: No progress on human rights in Serbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Belgrade Centre for Human Rights (BCHR) presented on Friday 31 March new Annual Report &#8216;Human Rights in Serbia 2022&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The editor and authors of the BCHR&#8217;s Report concluded that there was no progress on human rights in Serbia in 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe authorities\u2019 political octopus has spread its tentacles to every pore of society,\u201d BCHR Executive Director Sonja Toskovi\u0107 told a presentation of the report on Human Rights in 2022. She said that anyone who raises their voice to draw attention to problems is targeted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to her, the data collected for the report shows that rights \u201care in the dark, in a tunnel\u201d, especially in terms of freedom of expression and the media and the rights of marginalized groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Report editor Dusan Poku\u0161evski said he can\u2019t single out any right that is jeopardized more than others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said that Serbian society is highly polarized. He added that protests were staged because the public could not realize their rights through institutions.
