The aim is to enhance learning and awareness of the latest business and human rights (BHR) trends, review the readiness of the region to implement UNGPs and new EU CSDDD requirements, and discuss the implications for legislative and governance mechanisms and business practices.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-8249 media-8249\" class=\"align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/business-human-rights-11-24-152.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this context, one of the main topics was to delve deeper into the impact of EU policies and regulatory changes on business and human rights practices in ECA to understand the needs of the region better, particularly EU candidate countries, in ensuring the protection of and respect for human rights in the context of business activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ms. To\u0161kovi\u0107 participated also as a one of the panellists at the session Business and Human Rights in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: the impact of the EU\u2019s reform agenda. This session explored the (extra-)territorial implications of newly adopted EU legislation, and principally the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, (CSDDD), on rights-holders, businesses, communities, and governments in Europe and Central Asia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"post-8247 media-8247\" class=\"align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/business-human-rights-11-24-147.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Belgrade Centre for Human Rights has been carrying out activities in the field of business and human rights since 2013, in cooperation with domestic and international organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BCHR actively collaborates with the relevant state authorities to ensure that Serbia adopts a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights in line with contemporary trends as soon as possible, which is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/tbinternet.ohchr.org\/_layouts\/15\/treatybodyexternal\/Download.aspx?symbolno=E\/C.12\/SRB\/CO\/2&amp;Lang=En\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recommendation of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Belgrade Centre for Human Rights Executive Director Sonja To\u0161kovi\u0107 participated at the 4th UN Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights for Europe and Central Asia in Budva, Montenegro from 11 to 12 November.
