{"id":9492,"date":"2025-10-07T14:31:40","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:31:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/?p=9492"},"modified":"2025-10-10T14:32:39","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T13:32:39","slug":"panel-30-years-of-fighting-for-human-rights-what-have-we-achieved-where-are-we-now-and-what-lies-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgcentar.org.rs\/en\/panel-30-years-of-fighting-for-human-rights-what-have-we-achieved-where-are-we-now-and-what-lies-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Panel &#8220;30 Years of Fighting for Human Rights: What have we achieved, where are we now, and what lies ahead?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, on Friday, October 3, 2025, in the Miljenko Dereta Space in Belgrade, this jubilee was solemnly marked and pay tribute to three decades of unwavering commitment to advancing and protecting human rights in Serbia. .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event opened with welcome addresses\u00a0 from <strong data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"532\">Vesna Petrovi\u0107<\/strong>, retired professor of law,\u00a0President of the Management Board and former Executive Director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, and <strong data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"660\">Sonja To\u0161kovi\u0107<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"725\" data-end=\"883\">The opening was followed by the panel discussion <strong data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"869\">\u201c30 Years of Human Rights Advocacy: Achievements, Current Challenges, and Future Prospects\u201d<\/strong>, featuring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"999\"><strong data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"903\">Dragor Hiber<\/strong>, retired professor of law and member of the Assembly of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1084\"><strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1021\">Milo\u0161 Stojkovi\u0107<\/strong>, Attorney and member of the Management Board of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1141\"><strong data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1105\">Sonja To\u0161kovi\u0107<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1144\" data-end=\"1182\"><strong data-start=\"1144\" data-end=\"1160\">Vladica Ili\u0107<\/strong>, Manager of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights Legal Team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Founded in 1995 as a civic association dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of human rights, the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights has since evolved into one of Serbia\u2019s leading non-governmental organisations. Over the past three decades, the BCHR has sought to promote respect for the very idea of human rights, to raise public awareness of the importance of issues concerning human rights and individual freedoms, to influence public opinion and to foster a climate in which they are fully recognized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the founders and long-standing Directors of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights was Vojin Dimitrijevi\u0107, a professor of law, intellectual and distinguished champion of human rights and democracy, whose voice of reason and tolerance inspired all wishing for a better future for our country.
