As part of the Erasmus+ project “Intercultural Competences and Innovative Approaches to Working with Refugees and Migrants”, four workshops were held in April, focusing on interculturality, refugee protection, understanding diversity and the challenges of the social inclusion of refugees and migrants. A total of 78 participants took part in the workshops.
The workshops were intended for people who work with, or encounter through their professional, volunteer or activist engagement, refugees, migrants and people on the move. Through interactive work, participants had the opportunity to discuss the importance of intercultural competences, the role of empathy, solidarity and responsible communication, as well as the practical challenges refugees and migrants face in the integration process.
Special focus was placed on understanding the refugee experience, access to rights, combating stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination, as well as creating a safe space for dialogue and exchange. Participants explored how interculturality is built through everyday relationships, language, trust and the willingness to understand diversity as a value rather than an obstacle.
The workshops contributed to strengthening participants’ capacities to work in multicultural environments and provided a space for exchanging experiences, questions and examples from practice. Through these activities, the project continues to contribute to the development of more open, solidary and inclusive communities in which refugees and migrants feel safe, accepted and welcome.
The workshops are part of a broader process of education and dissemination of project results, including the digital handbook, presentations, educational materials and other tools developed within the project, with the aim of improving the intercultural competences of employees and volunteers working with refugees and migrants.
