7 December 2001 – This year’s recipients of the Konstantin Obradović prize for contribution to the advancement of a human rights culture are Belgrade journalists Svetlana Lukić and Svetlana Vuković. The prize was established by the Belgrade Center for Human Rights to commemorate our founder and long-time deputy director Prof. Dr. Konstantin Obradović, one of the greatest Yugoslav and international experts on humanitarian law and an active campaigner for human rights causes in our country. Konstantin Obradović passed away on the 10th of March, 2000. The prize was awarded by a jury consisting of Filip David, Dr Vojin Dimitrijević and Dr Vesna Pešić. The prize will be presented on the 9th of December 2001 at 12p.m., at the International Press Center Tanjug, Knez Mihailova 6, Level 3, Belgrade. With the annual presentation of this prize the Belgrade Center for Human Rights also commemorates December 10, Human Rights Day.
Following the award ceremony, the Belgrade Center will present its latest publication, Lustration – the removal of opponents to democracy from public office (Lustracija – uklanjanje protivnika demokratije s javnih funkcija), by Andraž Zidar. Dr Momčilo Grubač and Prof. Dr Vladimir Vodinelić will talk about the book.
