The annual awards of the Human Rights House

Marking the 10th December, International Human Rights Day, the Human Rights House gave annual awards to activists who contributed to the promotion and protection of human rights during the 2022 year.

Awards were given to Milica Filipović from Šabac, who was the first to go public with her experience of induced abortions in Serbia, Dejana Deksi Stošić, who started the whole story with hashtag   #nisamprijavil fighting violence against women, and Aladin Paučinac, an activist from Novi Pazar.

At the same time, the “Nobel 22” exhibition was presented in the Human Rights House presenting activists who were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year. The exhibition presents the image and work of each nominee – Aleš Bialiatsky from Belarus, the non-governmental organization Memorial from Russia and the organization Center for Civil Liberties from Ukraine.

International Human Rights Day is an opportunity to remind that human rights are the fundamental value of every modern democratic state, that they are innate and that it is necessary to continuously work on their improvement and respect, so that citizens feel free to express their views without fear of being suffer any consequences and pressures.
