Inclusion of Foreigners in Western Balkans – Access to Social and Economic Rights FOSTER – New Regional Project

The Belgrade Center for Human Rights has initiated the implementation of a new regional project entitled “Inclusion of Foreigners in Western Balkans – Access to Social and Economic Rights (FOSTER).”

The project is developed by 7 CSOs joined to the Balkan Refugee and Migration Council (BRMC)* and Danish Refugee Council (DRC) to address common migration-related challenges in the Western Balkan region, with the focus on fundamental human rights of different vulnerable groups of migrants and foreigners, particularly their access to social and economic rights.

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the alignment with EU human rights principles by developing inclusive and non-discriminatory policies and effective inclusion practices for vulnerable foreigners. This serves as a prerequisite for a successful EU accession process and sustainable development of Western Balkan region. The target groups of the project are local civil society organizations and independent human rights institutions in the Western Balkans region. The project will strengthen the capacities of these target groups to contribute to policy-making processes, promotion and protection of foreigners’ human rights, and their inclusion into the sustainable social and economic development of the Western Balkans.

The project duration is from March 1, 2023, to August 31, 2026. The project is led by the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association (MYLA) from North Macedonia, with implementation partners including the Belgrade Center for Human Rights (BCHR), Group 484, Albanian Helsinki Committee, Civil Rights Program Kosovo (CRP/K), Your Rights (VP) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Legal Center (LC) from Montenegro, and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC).

More information about the project can be found HERE.
