Next Step in ECHR Proceedings: Serbia and Civil Society Organizations Invited to Submit Comments on the Responses Concerning the Alleged Use of Sonic Weapons at the March 15 Protest in Belgrade

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has informed civil society organizations that on Monday, March 31, it received the response of the Republic of Serbia regarding allegations of the possible use of sonic weapons at the protest in Belgrade on March 15, 2025. The Court in Strasbourg has invited civil society organizations to submit their comments on the state’s response by April 8. Within the same deadline, the ECHR has also requested the Republic of Serbia to provide its comments on the submission that civil society organizations sent to the Court on Monday, March 31, informing it about the health condition of the applicants.

It should be recalled that on March 24, the ECHR asked the Republic of Serbia to clarify whether unauthorized means were used against demonstrators at the protest in Belgrade on March 15, what the legal basis for the alleged use of such weapons was, and what protective measures exist against the arbitrary use of such means.

Our organizations will continue to support citizens in establishing the truth about the events of March 15, protecting their rights and interests in proceedings before international and domestic bodies. For this reason, despite the public’s clear interest in the content of Serbia’s response, at this stage of the procedure, we will release new information after April 8, once we submit our comments on the state’s response.
