Activities and Results of the Project on Building Youth Resilience to Criminal Activities

The project “Building Resilience of Youth to Criminal Activities,” implemented by the organization Juventas from Montenegro in partnership with the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights from Serbia and the organization Nisma për Ndryshim Shoqëor ARSIS from Albania – and supported by the SMART Balkans project, implemented by the Centre for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD) together with partner organizations from Albania – the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) – and from North Macedonia – the Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM), with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway – encompassed a series of activities that resulted in several significant documents:

Analysis “Delinquency and Youth in Serbia – Resilience to Criminal Activities”

The analysis was developed based on data collected through an electronic questionnaire completed by young people aged 16 to 19. A total of 3,649 respondents from across the Republic of Serbia participated in the survey. Based on the results obtained, conclusions were drawn and recommendations proposed for future steps to strengthen young people’s resilience to criminal activities.

The analysis in Serbian is available at this LINK.

The results and key findings from the research on which the analysis was based were presented in mid-October at a press conference dedicated to juvenile delinquency and youth resilience.

Youth Activity Program – Building Resilience of Youth to Criminal Activities

The program is based on the Kurve kriegen working method implemented by the German police in their preventive work with young people.

The program in Serbian is available for download at this LINK.

Analysis “Building Resilience of Youth Towards Criminal Activities – Analysis of Participation of Youths in Criminal Activities”

Additionally, within the project, a comprehensive analysis in English, “Building Resilience of Youth Towards Criminal Activities – Analysis of Participation of Youths in Criminal Activities”, was created. In addition to the analysis of the situation in Serbia, it includes cross-country data on the situation in Montenegro and Albania on this topic.

Full analysis in English is available HERE.

During the implementation of the project “Building Resilience of Youth Towards Criminal Activities” in all three countries – Montenegro, Albania, and Serbia – a series of activities were organized focusing on the prevention of juvenile delinquency, strengthening adolescents’ resilience to criminal activities, and addressing the challenges they may face. Among other activities, training sessions were held with police officers working with or coming into contact with juvenile offenders, with civil society organizations, as well as with media representatives.
