Belgrade hosted FOSTER project Training for Trainers

The Belgrade Centre for Human Rights had the opportunity to host representatives of member organizations of the Balkan Refugee and Migration Council (BRMC), DRC, and representatives of independent human rights institutions in the Western Balkans region at the second regional Training of Trainers (ToT), held in Belgrade from April 17th to 19th.

Thanks to Catherine Woollard, Director of European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) for the online lecture on the newly adopted EU Pact on Migration and Asylum and its potential implications for border countries, thus making a significant contribution to enhancing participants’ knowledge of the new reforms in the field of asylum and migration.

The second regional Training of Trainers (ToT) was conducted as part of the project “Integration of Foreigners in the Western Balkans – Access to Social and Economic Rights (FOSTER)”. The training was prepared and conducted by EU experts, as part of capacity building and networking activities of local civil society organizations (CSOs) and independent human rights institutions (IHRI) throughout the Western Balkans, with a focus on advocating for the improvement and protection of social and economic rights and access to services for vulnerable categories of foreigners.

The aim of the training was to enhance the capacities of participants to address migration challenges and advocate for the advancement of human rights, especially for vulnerable categories of foreigners. Through a combination of theoretical discussions, practical exercises, and real-life case studies, participants acquired and improved knowledge about the rules of entry and stay of foreigners in the EU, return and readmission, integration, and various tools and mechanisms for accessing guaranteed rights.

The Training of Trainers (ToT) within the FOSTER project highlights the commitment of organizations in the Western Balkans region (Macedonian Young Lawyers Association, Your Rights Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgrade Center for Human Rights, Civil Rights Program – Kosovo (CRP/K), Group 484, Albanian Helsinki Committee, and Legal Center) to empower human rights advocates. The training was held with the financial support of the European Union.
