Information Guide for Victims of Human Trafficking

The Belgrade Centre for Human Rights supported the Centre for the Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings, which prepared an information leaflet for victims and presumed victims of human trafficking. The leaflet is available in Serbian and English, so that important information on the risks of human trafficking, victims’ rights and available protection mechanisms can be accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including people on the move and foreign nationals residing in the Republic of Serbia. The leaflet is intended to inform persons at risk of human trafficking, as well as potential and identified victims, with the aim of providing them, in a clear and understandable manner, with information about their rights, available forms of assistance and protection, and the institutions and organisations they can contact for support.

The leaflet will be distributed through key institutions and relevant stakeholders that come into contact with people on the move and foreign nationals.

The leaflet is aligned with the relevant national strategic and legal framework, including the Programme for the Fight Against Human Trafficking 2024–2029, particularly in the areas of prevention, victim protection and inter-institutional cooperation. It is also consistent with the principles contained in the draft Law on the Prevention of Human Trafficking, especially regarding victims’ right to information, access to assistance and protection, as well as identification and referral mechanisms.

The guide in English is available HERE.

The development and publication of the leaflet also contribute to the implementation of GRETA recommendations, particularly those concerning the provision of clear, accessible and understandable information to victims and persons at risk about their rights, available services and access to protection mechanisms.

The guide was developed within the project “Specialised Support to (Potential) Victims of Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking and Legal Pathways for Vulnerable Groups in Serbia”, implemented as part of the regional EU4FAST initiative – “EU Support to Strengthening the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Human Trafficking in the Western Balkans.” The project is funded by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Italian Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The content of this publication is the sole responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily reflect the views of the donors and partners.
