Presentation of Preliminary Findings of the Report on the Right to Education of Young People in Belgrade and Loznica

On Wednesday, 17 December, the Youth Programme of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights presented the preliminary findings of its research on the realization of young people’s right to education in Belgrade and Loznica, at the UNS Press Centre.

The research focuses on the quality, accessibility, equal opportunities, and safety of the educational environment, with particular attention to the situation of young people from vulnerable groups and the extent to which local policies and practices recognize – or fail to recognize – their needs. The report concludes with recommendations aimed at improving the state of youth education rights in these communities.

The presentation addressed the following key questions:

The event featured contributions from Sarita Bradaš and Goran Sandić, authors of the report, and was moderated by Vesna Dobrosavljević from the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights.

The reports were produced within a project aimed at empowering young people to recognize and respond to discrimination and human rights violations. This year’s focus was on education and social inclusion, while the previous cycle focused on the right to work, with reports covering Subotica and Vranje.

The reports were prepared within the programme “Prava u centru” (“Stepping Stones to Youth Diversity in Serbia: Empowering Youth with Knowledge, Skills and Protection Mechanisms for Anti-Discrimination”), implemented by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights with the financial support of the European Union. The views expressed in the reports are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official views of the European Union.
