The civil society organizations Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, CRTA, Civic Initiatives, A 11 – Initiative for Economic and Social Rights, Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights YUCOM, and FemPlatz will hold a press conference on Wednesday, 9 April, to address the incident of 15 March that disrupted a peaceful protest in Belgrade during the 15 minutes of silence held in memory of those who lost their lives in the collapse of the awning at the Novi Sad Railway Station.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday, 9 April, at 12:00 PM in the large conference hall of the Media Center (Terazije 3, 1st floor).

Speakers at the conference will include:

Civil society organizations have received over 4,000 testimonies from citizens of Serbia regarding the events of March 15, 2025, which took place in central Belgrade – spanning the area from Slavija Square to Terazije and the surrounding streets – during the fifteen minutes of silence that began at 7:00 PM. The press conference will highlight the actions taken by civil society organizations before domestic and international institutions to protect the human rights of those affected by—and those reporting on—the incidents. It will also present an analysis of collected testimonies, describing what several thousand individuals heard, felt, and experienced after the gathering was interrupted, along with the health issues and lasting consequences they have faced.

The press conference will be held in Serbian with simultaneous English interpretation.

Our organizations remain committed to supporting the citizens of Serbia seeking to determine the truth regarding the events of March 15, and in safeguarding their rights and interests in proceedings before both international and national bodies.
