The Rainbow Migration Network (RMN) – a network formed by 16 civil society organisations in December 2022 – has held a number of activities, workshops and trainings with a view to extending comprehensive support to LGBTI refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
Since it was founded almost six months ago, the RMN has been working with CSO activists and representatives of state institutions with a view to empowering them for applying a continuous, comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to extending support services to LGBTI refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move. RMN’s activities have also been geared at advocating the improvement of the status of these categories of people and the realisation of their needs, as well as the full protection of their rights.

The three RMN workshops held to date were attended by dozens of people, activists of a number of CSOs focusing on the rights of LGBT persons, as well as the rights of and status of refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move. RMN also held trainings for representatives of state institutions, with a view to building the capacity of service providers and decision makers in state institutions. The social workers who completed the trainings were also provided with the opportunity to collect the licence points approved by the Social Protection Chamber.
The project also included support to the implementation of specific support services to LGBTI refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move, which should be extended by local experts in the protection of LGBTI rights and asylum and migration.

RMN also developed multilingual brochures in Arabic, Persian/Farsi, English, Russian, French and Serbian on the services extended by its member organisations.
RMN comprises organisations with significant experience in extending support services to LGBTI persons, as well as refugees, asylum seekers and people on the move.
