The online exhibition “Boundless love – When love crosses borders”

We are taught that love knows no boundaries, yet for many of us, those boundaries are painfully real. Crossing them often becomes a struggle for survival. These are the stories of people who had to leave everything behind in search of a place where they can love freely and live openly — stories not only about their journeys, but about their strength to overcome fear, rejection, and violence.

With these words begins the online exhibition “Boundless love – When love crosses borders,” a collection of photographs and personal stories of LGBTI refugees and asylum seekers in Serbia. The exhibition brings together the stories of four individuals who left their home countries because of persecution based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Each story stands as a powerful testimony to overcoming physical, social, and emotional boundaries encountered on their journeys and during their stay in Serbia.

Boundless love is part of the Rainbow Migration Network, a coalition of civil society organizations providing continuous, multidisciplinary support and advocacy for LGBTI refugees, asylum seekers, and people on the move in Serbia, aiming to strengthen and protect their human rights.

The author of the photographs is Sever Zolak.

The exhibition was first presented this week at the event “Challenges and Opportunities in Migration: A Gender Equality Perspective” held in Belgrade, where visitors could see a selection of photographs and access the full exhibition by scanning a QR code.

“Boundless love – When love crosses borders” was created in collaboration between the Rainbow Migration Network and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
