Erasmus+ Project: Intercultural Competencies and Innovative Approaches in Working with Refugees and Migrants

1 October 2025 - 31 August 2026

Donor: ERASMUS+ – Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes

The Erasmus+ project “Intercultural Competencies and Innovative Approaches in Working with Refugees and Migrants” is implemented by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights from 1 October 2025 to 31 August 2026, in partnership with the CSO Zemljani – Are You Syrious? from Zagreb.

The main goal of the project is to promote an intercultural society that fosters openness, tolerance, and solidarity, where diversity is recognized as an opportunity for joint development. The specific objective of the project is to educate staff and volunteers in order to strengthen their intercultural competencies, improve the quality of services provided to migrants, and contribute to faster integration of migrants into the community.

Within the project, staff and volunteers of the participating organizations, as well as other organizations working with beneficiaries from diverse cultural backgrounds, will take part in activities including the development and testing of a manual and educational materials, preparation of video materials showcasing examples of good practice, and the organization of trainings and workshops. These activities will enable the exchange of experiences, learning about innovative working methods, and strengthening capacities for supporting migrants. Project results will be disseminated through public lectures, presentations, publications on the partners’ websites and social media, as well as on the Erasmus+ platform, in order to make the acquired knowledge and experience available to other organizations.

The project outcome will be a manual available online and in printed form in Croatian, Serbian, and English, containing examples of good practice and innovative methods of working with migrants, as well as video materials promoting interculturality, volunteering, and integration activities. Trainings and presentations will enable staff and volunteers to practically apply the acquired knowledge, contributing to the strengthening of intercultural competencies, improvement of service quality, and acceleration of migrant integration. The project will also contribute to networking among organizations working with migrants and to the creation of a platform for future cooperation.
