Human-Rights-and-Business-Country-Guide-Description-Nov-2013-1

This project, jointly carried out by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, shed a light on the intensive link between human rights and businesses. It drew upon the earlier collaboration, and focused on two major outputs to produce an updated Serbia Human Rights and Business Country Guide and a National Baseline Study of Business and Human Rights in Serbia.

The purpose of this project was to deepen the cooperation around the Country Guide and its dissemination and application in Serbia. It was the BCHR’s goal to facilitate, as much as possible, stakeholder initiatives addressing business and human rights issues as identified in the Country Guide. A large focus was be placed on producing a National Baseline Assessment (NBA), which includes the findings of the Country Guide, and will serve as a basis for a National Action Plan on Human Rights and Business. The Baseline Assessment was a consultative process led by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, which will play an important role in promoting the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the Serbian context. The NBA draft was launched during a National Symposium.
