Engaging Young People in the Process of Research and Changing of Gender Roles and Patterns in Sandžak Region

The primary issue this project seeks to address is fighting gender inequality and discrimination of women in Sandžak region in Serbia, specifically in Novi Pazar, Prijepolje and Sjenica.

In these towns, the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights will organize trainings for 60 young people on the issues of discrimination of women, how to advocate for women’s rights and how to establish an effective dialogue with decision makers in the domain of gender equality. The project also envisages a research on gender equality issues and problems in Sandžak region, that will be conducted by the trainings’ participants in their respective communities. The main points from the research will be used for the production of an animated movie on problems of achieving gender equality in Sandžak, which will be presented in public spaces and will be followed by group discussions. At the end of the project, abovementioned animated movie will be presented at an event in Belgrade which will also include a panel discussion with relevant stakeholders in the field of protection and empowerment of women.
