#SteppingStones to Youth Diversity in Serbia: Empowering Youth with Knowledge, Skills, and Safeguards to Combat Discrimination

January 1 – December 31, 2025

Donor: Delegation of the European Union to Serbia

The Belgrade Centre for Human Rights is implementing the operational grant #SteppingStones to Youth Diversity in Serbia, aimed at supporting and empowering diverse youth communities in Serbia to recognize and respond to discrimination and rights violations, with a special focus on LGBTIQ+ youth, young women, and youth from minority ethnic communities.

Main project activities:

1. Monitoring – Tracking and data collection through a combination of four methods designed to improve the gathering of relevant information, with young people playing a vital role in providing insights into local situations related to individual cases of discrimination against youth in two selected cities (Belgrade and Loznica).

2. Empowerment – Youth Alliance against Discrimination
Strengthening an anti-discrimination youth alliance from nine different local communities. In 2025, 20 new members will join the Alliance, and through a six-day training, exchange of experiences, and joint activities, they will collaborate with existing members, contributing to the Alliance’s growth and sustainability. In this way, the Alliance becomes a permanent network of young people prepared to respond to discrimination in their communities.

3. Response – Acting against all forms of discrimination and violations of youth rights through:

4. Engagement and participation in decision-making processes through:

The project’s campaign focuses on informing and empowering young people from different communities to recognize discrimination and actively respond, with special emphasis on supporting LGBTIQ+ youth, young women, and youth from minority ethnic groups.

The project is implemented by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia.
