Collect Paper – Preserve Woods (Strategy for Promoting Voluntarism and Solidarity)

December 21, 2000

Donor: Greenfist

Duration of the project: June – September 2000

The Youth Group of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights and Greenfist developed strategy for promoting voluntarism and solidarity among people throughout the country. The strategy involved different ways and methods of promotion, some parts of it being connected to specific projects based on voluntary work and other parts being distribution of information on a more general level. As we found ecology issues as general concern and good ground for voluntary work and solidarity, the national campaign “Collect paper – preserve woods” was conducted. The campaign consisted of meetings with the volunteers, survey of public opinion “Are the paper disposals necessary in school yards”, action plan, door to door campaign, presentation of the project in both primary and secondary schools, distibution of educational material (citizens: How To Prepare Paper for Recycling; elemantary and secondary school: One day workshop on Ecology and importance of secondary substances; teaching staff: Basic Introduction in Ecology) and media campaign.
